Our Favorite Gut Health Smoothie Recipe

Our Favorite Gut Health Smoothie Recipe

We get it - sometimes you just want to eat dessert. And you should! Sweet treats are mentally and physically beneficial in moderation. Here at Reset Logic, we love to make multi-purpose treats.

What do we mean by that? Glad you asked.

We came up with a smoothie recipe to satisfy the sweet tooth and the gut. Luckily for you, we’re in a sharing mood.

Base /

The best thing you can do to support your 28-day gut reset is to add natural probiotics into your daily routine. That may sound daunting, but it’s actually simple - and delicious! A really easy way to do this is by using yoghurt as the base of your smoothie.

Yoghurt comes in many forms, all of which will accomplish this goal and add a yummy richness to your gut health smoothie! If you are following a plant-based regimen, there are many types of non-dairy yoghurt products that all include live active cultures (a.k.a., your gut’s probiotic best friend.)

You can also use Kefir, a fermented milk drink that has a consistency similar to drinkable yoghurt (think Danimals, circa 2005.) Kefir actually contains more probiotics than traditional yoghurt, which makes it an even more enticing option as a gut health smoothie base!

Keep in mind - the less sugar in your yoghurt base, the better. You can add sweetness with other ingredients, like….

Fruit /

Bananas are a great choice for so many reasons. Not only are they delicious, but they also make your smoothie have an ice cream consistency when you freeze the bananas beforehand. All of those bananas that go brown and eventually end up in the trash could actually be salvaged. When your bananas start to go mushy, peel them, slice them up, and pop them in the freezer for your next ice-creamy gut health smoothie.

Bananas balance your healthy microbes and reduce inflammation because they’re high in potassium and magnesium.

Aside from bananas, you can really add any fruit you like to switch up the flavor profiles each time you make one of these smoothies.

Greens /

Kale and spinach are both great options to add a green kick to your smoothie, but kale in particular reduces inflammation and reduces the risk of cancer. Who knew a smoothie could be this powerful? Kale is also rich in Vitamins K, A, and C, and is a great source of folate.

Add-ins /

Yoghurt, frozen bananas, and kale all come together to form a really amazing gut health smoothie - but there are things you can add that maximize the effect.

Ginger has long been considered a cure-all in many cultures. So, if you have fresh ginger left over from a recipe, grate some into the blender. It’s anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, so you really can’t go wrong with this zingy root!

Honey is another great add-in, especially for those of you with a sweet tooth. Honey is a fantastic natural sweetener. Here’s a tip: buy locally to support small businesses and reduce your seasonal allergies! Honey helps you build immunity to the pollen in your area. Just like the other ingredients in your smoothie, honey is a powerful microbial.

And finally, mint. Fresh mint is a wonder-herb if you experience stomach pains. It is a natural analgesic that will coat your stomach with its menthol.

When you begin your gut health journey, this smoothie will become your new best friend. Every ingredient will work hard to reset your gut alongside our 28-day gut reset!
